EA casts light on Skate's multiformat future
Sequel on the cards

Electronic Arts has confirmed that a new addition to its celebrated Skate franchise is on the cards for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, reports trade magazine MCV.

Skate 2, as we've decided to call it, will hit the two next-gen formats at some point, but - perhaps more excitingly - EA has also revealed that the original Skate will hit the Wii, with balance board functionality.

Also in development for the DS, EA said it is looking forward to bringing Skate to Nintendo's two record-selling formats.

"We knew it would be an exciting challenge to bring the soul and feel of skateboarding to the Wii and Nintendo DS," EA's Scott Blackwood said in a statement.

"With fresh new designs and gameplay components built from scratch, we've been able to, once again, capture the true experience of skateboarding in a completely innovative way."

Predictions mixed about U.S. sales in April
Will 360 top PS3, or vice versa?

It's the burning question: just which format, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, will have seen the biggest hardware boost due to the release of Grand Theft Auto IV last month?

Predictions for the official U.S. figures, set to be published by the NPD Group later this week, are coming in, and they paint a mixed picture.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter has claimed that the PS3 will have outsold the Xbox 360 in April, selling 290,000 units to the 360's 275,000.

However, simExchange believes the opposite will be true, with the 360 winning out with sales of 381,000 units to the PS3's 363,000.

Both parties think the Wii will top both Sony and Microsoft, selling somewhere between 600,000 (Pachter) and 734,000 (simExchange) units.

GTA IV enjoys 40 per cent attach rate on 360
Microsoft reveals yet more statistics

No doubt intent to show just what a boost for the Xbox 360 Grand Theft Auto IV has been, Microsoft has released yet more statistics regarding its release.

Yes, not only has GTA IV sold more units on 360 - according to the American giant, 40 per cent of all new 360 consoles sold during the game's first week on sale were bought with a copy of Rockstar's record-breaking game.

"The game is attaching well to new consoles, roughly 40 per cent of 360s going out the door had a copy of GTA IV going with them," a spokesperson told Major Nelson.

We'd much rather know the reverse statistic, however: just how many copies of GTA IV were sold with a brand new console?

360-mote to be shown to press this week?
Rumour hits web

Gaming blog Kotaku is reporting a rumour that Microsoft could be about to show its officially-denied motion-sensing Wii-like controller for the Xbox 360 to the world's press.

The blog claims that sources have revealed that the press will be shown the device as early as this week, though Kotaku was naturally unable to name said sources.

Microsoft is due to show off Rare'a Banjo Kazooie to the North American press tomorrow, with previous rumours suggesting that the former Nintendo-owned studio Rare having been charged with developing software for the device.

Could a 360-mote controlled Banjo Kazooie be set to be announced to the world on Tuesday?
